I have a Rega tonearm that i purchased used , the previous owner replaced the the original wires for silver ones ,the opposite side of the cable with the RCA plugs has the 4 wires soldered already ,but i can see that there a fifth dot of solder another wire could be solder to , WHAT IS THIS FOR? in the part of the inner tonearm has a tiny copper plate where it appears that fifth wire should added to , but i am not sure , any suggestions?

Where is your ground?

there is no ground wire , that what i was thinking that fifth solder should be, but besides that should that fifth wire be soldered to the tonearm as well?

Hey JAS , thanks for the tip , it helped somehow but i still have the dilemma if the ground wire to the tonearm should also be the ground wire that its connected to the ground screw in the amp itself in other words should i solder two ground wires , one that will extend to the tonearm and another for the external use?

I don't think it matters if there is one ground wire or two going to the amp, but it's preferable for the tonearm and turntable grounds to meet at the same point, either at the turntable or the amp ground post. Obviously this isn't possible with the standard Rega wiring which uses the signal return as the arm ground, so it's a popular mod to take the ground out on a separate wire, ignoring the fifth solder pad.

Hi,
The IIX uses a 110V Airpax/Premotec 9904 series motor. Similar motors are used in the LP12, Rega, NAD, Goldring GR etc. You can fit your pulley on any of these motors but you may have to change the phase capacitor, depending on exactly which model Systemdek put in yours.
