I just received from a friend a new (unused) F9E. I am wondering what the asking price should be for this cartridge? I have a Signet TK9E in my Systemdek IIx, would this be an upgrade, or should I sell the F9E?

That is a good friend!
Superb cartridge. Probably worth $400. Better than a Signet AM30 in a light arm.

Cheers,
Alec

The Signet and Grace will sound different. Both are very, very good MM cartridges.

Why not listen for yourself? The Grace wants a very low mass arm. SME Series II improved was an excellent match back in the day. The Signet is a little more forgiving of a sligthly higher mass arm.

How many hours on the Signet? The TK9 has a non-replaceable stylus as I recall. IF you have more than 1000 hours on it odds are it is time to replace.

OK...disclaimer...I dislike Signet and AT cartridges. The Grace is a much better cartridge. Try it.

Hi there Gator, I suggest sell the Grace F9E.. as for their value, ah not much at all...BUT I can suggest that if you hurry before the Australian Dollar loses its (almost) parity with the US$, then you COULD send it to me for ecologically friendly disposal...haha, Cheers Gator =P~

Well, I'll throw my 2 cents worth in. Having both the Grace9E and the SMEII on which said Grace is mounted , I can say that it is a very good sounding cartridge. I have also used the Grace on a Jelco 750L arm and had similar results.

Seriously, Consider long and hard before getting rid of it, you will come to regret it.

I have owned the F9E and TK7E. I didn't own them at the same time but I liked the TK7E the best. The F9 was detailed but soft sounding so I sold it.....
