Thorens td 160 turntable

Hi all! I just recently got into turntables and picked up a used thorens 160. The problem is, the small metal plate which adjusts into the base of the table goes in far too deep so when I put the larger metal piece above it, it scratches the table and won't spin. Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Thanks!

You need to adjust the suspension. Manuals are hrere:
