I have a late model Reference Hydraulic with SME3009 fixed headshell and Goldring 1042 (and a V15 for old times sake). I love this turntable, a thing of real beauty, it's in pristine condition and works like new.
It may seem a silly question but just what would be the sonic benefits of changing to a Gyro/Rega 250 et al (using the 1042 at present).
I value 'musicality', transparency and soundstage above other things. It would be used in a fairly small room with a Musical Fidelity A1000 (another thing of beauty) and Neat Petites mk1 (made in 1989, not things of beauty but they sound devine). Musical tastes are varied.
Very grateful for any replies.
