Peerless/Vifa/Tymphany is all the now same speaker company that started in Denmark, and has moved manufacturing and much design to China. I'm using some very near "top-end" Peerless 180mm woofers (Nomex cone) and Vifa titanium doam tweeters in a pair of very, very nice bookshelf speakers I'm working on. My costs should be in the $350 range (with very rare hardwood veneer on the cabinets) and others who have built the same speakers have had blind listening tests with $1500-2000 speakers, and most people have preferred the "Veepers". I can't take credit for the design, but right now the drivers are in my "test box", and sound great. Fuss with your DIY TT, your DIY phono stage, your DIY amp, then your own speakers to fit your room, acoustics, size limitations, sound preferences! You will likely end-up spending more money, but your enjoyment may go off the scale! Sadly most of the DIY speaker bunch believe in digital sound mostly. I've threatened to bring a TT, pre-amp and vinyl to a speaker show and tell to see what their new "babies" will REALLY
do with a quality input source.
