pink triangle main bearing

Postby chrisf22 » 18 May 2012 10:44

Dear all,
I have just purchased a Pink Triangle LPT and there seems to be a some slight ware on the main turntable bearing as the platter shaft can be rocked from side to side very slightly is this normal ?? .also does this model have a ball bearing under the shaft, I ask this as when I tilt the deck no ball bearing falls out .
Is it posible to purchase the whole bearing assembly anywhere.
Many thanks for any help.

Take a look at this link http://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_forum/viewtopic.php?p=67772 - it looks like there should be a ball bearing. I am sure abril or someone will be along to help in a while.

The Funk Firm (run by Arthur K, co-founder of PT) sell new PT bearings; I don't know if they can be used as replacements in the LPT, but it might be worth contacting them http://www.thefunkfirm.co.uk

I'm free here

Yes there should be a ball bearing in the bottom, have a good look down there with a torch light or something in case it's stuck.
I've got some ball bearings here which I think were bought for an LPT,measure the diameter of the shaft and I can check them against that.

The LPT bearing is a completely different type to that the Funk Firm supply for the PT1/PT Too.
I have to say that my experience of the LPT is that the bearings are extremely well finished and very close matching with no slop.

PS
Are you sure it is the bearing slopping not the platter rocking on the bearing?

Does the platter spin freely when there is no belt fitted?
