3D Blu-ray Player ; Cambridge Audio BD Azur 751

Postby Jimii » 18 May 2012 00:00

Anybody own one? I'm especially interested in the audio end of things. If I get one I will be using it in a 2.1 channel system. Any thoughts , strengths , weaknesses etc.? Thanks:)

Unless you must have 3D the Oppo's (BD93, 95) are the best things going.

From the Oppo site:
The BDP-93 supports the new Blu-ray 3D specifications (3D television and glasses required).

Cheers,

IFAIK they're very comparable under the hood. The Oppo's particularly the 93 are much cheaper. I would put the 93 in the best bang for the buck category.

I have one of these and I can say it's the best cd player I have ever owned . Brilliant blu ray player and also a fabulous cd player , very detailed and vinyl like . I strongly recommend this as a do all player !

I am looking for a CD/DVD player, for a stereo setup (Pioneer SX-939 & Bose 901). I care far more on the audio side, and don't care about 3D. I am fine with a good used suggestion, or a not too expensive new. Any suggestions?

I have the BD95and I think the video and sound are the best I've ever had in my home. I'm not even using all of the connection capabilities this BD player offers. For the price either the 93 or 95 would be very hard to beat.

When I say I have one of these I mean The Cambridge , as I said it is the best cd player I have ever owned and I have had some very good players . I hear detail I have never heard before and imaging is really first class .

That Cambridge is a beast. I sell cambridge and while we don't have the 751, we have the 650 on display, and it works wonders on compressed audio burned from iTunes downloads.
I wonder how many people have actually heard an Oppo, or if they just regurgitate reviews...
Too much to list, I sell the stuff, so most of it was free (the only way I can afford my addiction)!

Your not kidding ! I stuck a usb stick in the front input the other day and listened to some old Alice Cooper songs (elected ,Hello hooray etc.) which were never the best quality in the first place , I couldnt believe my ears ! Sounded as good as I have heard em . The level of detail these Cambridge's pull out of cd , mp3 etc. is amazing , the oppo's would really have to go some to beat the Cambridge players.

The rest of their stuff is great, too. We had the 850 preamp/amp hooked up to Klipsch Palladiums ($8,000/pr)... Holy s**t!!!
