CEC BD-5200 with ortofon close to record

Hi

I've just bought a vintage bd-5200, but I think the cartridge is skating very close to the record and sometimes touching it.

It seems to be an ortofon cartridge perhaps an VMS 20E Mk II, but I cannot be sure as the sign has fallen off. Here are a couple of pictures:

I have written about it in a danish forum, and I was suggested to higher the tonearm base, as it seemed to be too low and should be parallel with the record. But the tonearm is kind of "hanging" down and pointing down towards the record. I guess the white part of the cartridge should be parallel with the record as well, which wouldn't happen if I lowered the base.

What do you think? What would be the best course of action? Is the cartridge finished? Should I lower the tonearm base to get it parallel to the record? And does anyone know, how to lower/higher the tonearm base on this deck?

Cheers Peter

That cantilever should stand up more. I think the suspension is collapsing.
