I'll be very interested to hear how it sounds, especially with so much aly. I remember reading that someone who made a Shigaclone transport found that the choice and combination of different metals was quite critical. Would you be able to machine other metals, or even non-metals to make constrained layers for example?

Anything can be machined. This is my first TT. So just want it to play records well and look good at doing it.

It's the Pro-Ject 9cc Carbon tone arm. There isn't any suspension. The bearing and tonearm are mounted to the top plinth. The motor is mounted to middle plinth to reduce transferring vibrations to the top plinth. Also the middle will have 25-30 lbs of lead shot.

The platter is aluminum with 3 lbs of lead shot loaded in it. And yes the top (1/4" thick) is delrin.

It sounds fantastic. No noise what so ever. Well it can't get rid of all those pops and crackles

Weighing over 100lbs it sounds very solid. Very accurate speed. Much better than the stock RPM 5.1SE the components came off of.

An inverted bearing and phono stage are next Both made by me.

Pleased that it plays well it's always good when you do something like this and at the end of the day it does what you want it to do.

What would you pay for it? Including the cost of the RPM 5.1SE that the tonearm, cart, bearing and motor came from, It costed me $2,100 ($1,100 of that the 5.1SE) to make it.

My next two projects are an inverted bearing for my TT~1 and a new MM phone amp (I'm getting a 2M black soon).

After you put in the new inverted bearing, I think you could get $2k for it without tonearm. Unfortunately, you have a lot into the RPM 5.1se you started with. I can see you building a tonearm next, along the lines of a Schroeder or its variants

The bearing fab has started.

First is the fly wheel. The original is plastic. So i need to make that much stronger. Aluminum will be much better

Made a battery powered (30v in series) phono stage using the BHL Phono Amp Kit

by the way, the project carbon arm is known to exagerate pops and ticks. Try one of the SME 309, IV or V if you want to quiet that down a lot.
