I have the threaded vta adjuster on my RB300 to raise it up by two millimeter. There is just enough thread left for the nut to securely grab on to. Sound quality does not suffer from this, as long as you stick with the "fasten only finger tight"-rule. I'll take pictures of my situation tomorrow morning as it's way past little extinct carnivorous piggie's bedtime and I'm struggling to keep my eyes open....

Rega provides a special nut "arm sleeve nut" if you needed to raise the tonearm more than 2 or 3mm. If you have a very old Planar 3 it is a plug & play thing. If you have a more recent version of the Planar 3 or P3 you need to enlarge the tonearm hole to accomodate the sleeve nut and in some cases the VTA adjuster.
