Moving to Europe

The list would be huge. Why not simply invest in a step down mains transformer when you get there?

I was told they tend to heat up if left on for too long. That's why.

I looked at a picture of the back, and the power input is for 9 volt, 150 mA, AC/DC.
All you have to do is buy a 220 wallwart over there.

Low quality step down main transformer could distort the sound (humming etc.)

Agree with alex. also when looking at new walwarts, you may want to look for a low noise low ripple regulated supply, which will improve the sound quality of the phono stage. might cost a little bit more, but should be worth it.

Any chance that you could list some? I'm currently in Korea using a 5K step down transformer for my whole 120v system. My transformer is not a special audio one, but it has an analog meter on the front and has been very reliable for the past year, with no hum or noise. I'm also using a line conditioner directly connected to the step down transformer just for safe measure.

Going along with my issue about the preamp, which I now know (thanks to Alec124c41) only needs a new wall wart, it now occurs to me that I may have an issue with my actual turntable.
I have a Pioneer PL-300. Here's the bizarre thing: it says 50/60 Hz on the back but only 120V. Does that mean, I don't have to worry about frequency as long as I have the step down converter for the 220V power?

It is apparently a DC motor, so frequency will not matter, only voltage.

Sorry for the late reply. I can point you to UK equivalents, but not to an actual french supplier. However i am sure they exist. they are all made in china anyway!

the key to look for is low ripple, and regulated. rs components do them in uk plugs, and may even do them with a european plug fitting. from experience, there is no difference to the actuall wall wart, and a simple travel plug adapter will work on a uk one, they normall run from a large voltage range eg 90 - 240 VAC - 9VDC Linear Regulated transformer.
