Dropping the last record... 95B auto

the jewel in the crown

Not talking to yourself. I'll watch your videos a bit later. Going to clear out some clutter and maybe have a look at my little issue next week. I know how you feel. I was just about to pack my 95B up & ship it to Joel at the Turntable Factory when he, sadly, passed away. A lot of arcane knowledge left the world then.

That "thing" in de middle is called a Record-Weight, it is stabilizing warped records.
The plint is an original Garrard, it came from an 86SB i found on Ebay for €1,-

Interesting. The "lion rampant" badge behind the platter, visible in your 3rd pic, is where the stacking platform is on mine and every other 95B I've seen... I assume that's from the factory. Wonder if they left anything off below deck?

Looks nice!

Best,

Below the deck is everything present...Even the black steel with the screw to adjust the spindle, missing only the stacking platform :(
But plays nice and sounds nice with my Pickering XV-15/1200. :D

If it has a place for the stacker thingy, I can send you my extra one with the spring (slightly bent).

Here are some pictures of my 2nd deck. I transfered some guts from one to the other. But I found that one part was not transferable because on my 1st deck the part has a pin that fits into a hole, but on the second deck, there is a pin where the hole is and the part fits over the pin and rotates on the pin as an axis. To fix this, I'd have to take off a lot more parts... which I cannot do because the screw in the picture doesn't like to loosen... and I'm not sure what kind of can of worms I'd be opening if I did remove it.

Help? Why are two identical models built with a different attachment like that? Everything else looks identical.

Hi,

I'm expecting a second SL-95B next week.
Will look ofcourse under the "hood".
Gonna look at your pictures to see if those are also NOT similar.

In the UK at least, there was a model called the AP96, which was a single play version of the SL95B. I can't remember if the deck of the OP isn't a form of hybrid version, since both were based on the SL95B trim and underpinnings.

The AP76 had an invetted single point bearing, rather than the platter bearing running on a ball-race. I'm afraid I cannot tell you if the AP96 was the same - sorry.
