I just bought an old 1976 Sony 1100 turntable. I know very little about turntables. It worked pefectly when I put the first record on. Out of curiosity (after the first record played), I turned the reject knob switch. Now the platter won't turn when I place the needle to play on the record's first song (outside edge of record). The platter just coasts to a stop when the tone arm is lowered and the needle makes contact with the record. It resumes turning when I play the second song (moving the arm/need in to toward the center of the turntable). What have I done? How do I fix it? Many thanks for any insight into the problem.
