pl-a45d autoreturn not working

i have a very nice pioneer pl-a45d turntable, the only problem is the auto return
just quit working. i can't seem to find an adjustment anywhere for this problem.
i have the manual and nothing regarding this subject is mentioned.
anyone know how to fix this problem?

Can you give more details about the symptoms?

Is the arm just staying at the end of the record?

Is it lifting but not returning to the rest?

Is it lifting, returning to the rest, but not landing in the rest?

Does the auto-return initiate and function correctly when you hit the "Cut"?

If you can answer those questions we may be able to provide some assistance.

thanks for your reply DR. much appreciated.
the tonearm stays at the end of the record and does not lift and does not return. the auto return works normally
when i hit the "cut". i can hear clicking like the auto return is engaging but it just won't catch. every now and then it works properly but it's not reliable.
seems like something is just slightly out of adjustment.

thanks for the interest.
the tonearm just stays at the end of the record and does not lift or return.
when i engage the "cut" the tonearm lifts and returns to the tonearm rest normally.
when i just let the tonearm ride out the run-out grooves, there is a clicking like the auto-return is trying to engage but just won't catch. i have the manual and have looked at other pioneer manuals trying to find where to make the proper adjustment but with no luck. i wasn't sure if i was clear enough in my other reply so i thought i might reiterate. i've been told there is a screw adjustment but have no idea where.
