Akai GX-630D Problem while playing

Postby Frank12321 » 30 Apr 2012 02:43

Hi,

I have a Akai GX-630D Tape deck that was working very well but since today it have a weird problem when it play or FF,RW. I can hear a cliking relay then after a second a solenoid sound and it restart everytime at about a second interval.Everything work and the reel don't stop or slow down. The torque of the reel motor also vary like if i was playing with the reel size selector up and down. I would like to know what is the problem cause i love this machine :)

Thank you very much

PS: Sorry for my english :)

There is a thin belt from the take-up spindle to the counter. If the tape jams, the relay will stop the machine.
If this belt breaks, the deck reacts as if the tape is not moving, and shuts down.
Replace the belt.

Cheers,
Alec
Keep them spinning.

Hi

Well its not the belt because the counter is working. As i mention in my first post the player works well it doesnt stop while playing it just does that weird sound when i play a song or RW,FF.
But I found something interesting, when i play a song the left reel motor is supposed to run clockwise for better tension, but when that relay click it stop or have very little torque, and then it come back to normal when i hear the solenoid.

Also the clicking is very regular, at about 1 second. It is slower when i fast forward or rewind.

Thank you very much:)

Update: I have open the deck and it's the brake solenoid that does that.It goes out when I press play to remove the brake and after the relay click (like 1 second after the click) it move very fast and come back out.As if i was pressing play and stop in a very fast way.

That all what i found, hope it helped :)

Thank you very much
