Fixing a Sony PS-LX45 Arm

Postby lzgr » 28 Apr 2012 22:02

Hello everyone, I am new to turntables, more or less.
I wanted to use a turntable that I had lying around, Sony PS-LX45. But the arm is broke, it came off the body of the turntable.

What can I do about it?

Find a turntable from the '70s or '80s that isn't made entirely of plastic. This will be much more rewarding, without being expensive.

Cheers,
Alec

I am aware that it isn't the best thing I could do, but I want to try fixing it first. Thank you anyway, I will bear that in mind. :)

If it helps make your mind up, Alec is one of the most helpful people on an already helpful forum.. If Alec suggests gently it might not be worthwhile then...!

Also, while everything is repairable one way or another that doesn't look easily fixable.

OK, I will probably buy another one.
One final question, can it play in this state?

Try a piece of dowel, or twig, in the hole, to align the pieces, and use a drop of super-glue.

A niffty idea there. Does look as if it's broken right on the pivot / moving part, so keeping the glue from spreading where it shouldn't/isn't wanted will be the tricky part.
As said not the best kit, but nothing lost for having a go.
