Garage sale find! What Model is this AR?

Postby Buccard » 27 Apr 2012 22:17

I found this at a local garage sale and I am having trouble figuring out what model this is. It has a grace tone arm but I am not sure if this is stock or an upgrade. Any ideas? I will try and upload a pic.

I am not sure how to tell what cartridge, any suggestions. I see Japanese writing on the base.

Great find, very nice table.

Picture of cart would help but from what I can see it looks like this;

Can I ask how much you paid for it?

Yes that's the one, it's a sumiko Evo iii... I think I got this for a steal of a deal. I buy and sell things at garage sales and am constantly learning about new things. One weird thing is the audio outputs have a red, white and then there is a third wire that is smaller gauge but has no connected on the end. I can't wait to hear this thing play, but I don't want to mess with it until I know as much as I can about it.

I looked at the owner's manual on one of the links by fscl and the third wire looks like ground, my unit is missing the the terminal end, looks like I can fix that pretty easily. Thanks for the info!!

Thank you guys for the help, looks like I have found a very nice turntable. I would love to keep it but this is my way of making a living. I have to sell this to keep the lights and the kids fed around here. I am sure someone will be very happy with this turntable. It is currently listed on eBay.

Thats a steal for $40. You should have no problem getting 20x that or more for it. Not sure of the value that tonearm and cart will add, but I know I have seen a standard unit sell recently in the $400 - $600 range. AR turntables have an almost cultish following. Wish we had garage sales like that around here! lol

$1200?..buy it now only.. for a $40 find...That'll get the lights shining bright, the kids eating steak, AND get YOU fat.
Unfortunately, you'll be lucky to get more than $500 for it when you come back down to earth and list it in an auction setting.
still a nice score!
