stripping mk1 linn akito to clean

cleaned a Mk1 Akito its a bit fiddly sprayed all the bearings with of all things glass and mirror cleaner ....was getting a bit notchy on vertical....so dynamicaly the sound was suffering a bit.....worked a treat....never been as free vertically and horizontally.....was going to buy a new arm but with things being a bit tight took a bit of tome and patience......horizontal bearing can be sprayed and cleaned thought he bottom plate that holds all the tracking mech....gave all that a good clean too.....dont recommend to anyone who isn't slightly handy and has good patience and insight into how the arm is built.....sounds like a new one again....wasnt expecting that but hats off to Mr Mucle glass and window cleaner ...the bearings themselves are sealed to a point but there are places on the Mk 1 Akito where dust etc can build up and over time affect the sound....bit of food for thought if any one is a bit handy that way and money is a bit tight.....regards....garry

You'll want to spray also some lubricant into the bearings to avoid corrosion. Glass cleaner doesn't do much good for them in the long run.
