Nice job! And so is the coffer tamper on your flikr stream.... do you fancy making me a 57mm one [-o<

I'll have to register on my local freecycle scheme if that's the kind of kit you can get hold of....

Lol

The coffee tamper was hand turned, not to hard but it took a while and also while it was 'scrap' brass to replace the rod it was turned from might cost a little...

The meridian freecycle DVD. Well the guy had owned it from new, was well aware what he's paid for it but it was a genuine case of 'pass it on'. He wanted someone who'd basically fix it, enjoy it and appreciate it, rather than sell it on eBay.

Anyway, the point of the thread is not, "look what cool shiny stuff I got.." (well maybe a bit
) but more "CD can be really good in a reasonable player"

I thought my Marantz was well not top end but very acceptable. However this ten year old marvel is so very much better and it really does make me think of going and buying more digital music. Part of what's got me into vinyl is that CDs through the Marantz are OK but not really acceptable, grey and flat. This isn't the same as vinyl, but it's very nice indeed.

I beleive the 200 series Meridian kit is very good and can be had for modest prices..
