Not sure of this has already been done, but here goes anyway.

What,s your favorite pair of speakers?

My favorites are my bang and olufsen beovox s-45's

They sound amazing and I picked them up for $130.

Still using Gale 402's bought back in 1988 (or thereabouts). First saw them at the Harrogate Hi Fi show in the mid-1980's. Comforting to know that there are still a number of folk out there supporting this classic speaker. Sat on Linn sara stands they still sound exceptional.

I'm still using my Royd Minstrels which I bought new in 1993. I love them but they don't go very loud. I'm aspiring to a new set of Harbeth Monitor 30 in the Tiger Ebony finish.

TDL Studio 1 and I have no plans to change them.... Ever ....

Hi,
my favorite speakers are my present ones: Paradigm Active/20. They are "bookshelf monitors" with 6.5 inch woofer/mid, and 1 inch tweeter. Internal amplifiers are sufficiently powerful for all my needs, the sound and staging are just right for me. Intend to keep them for many more years, in addition to the 8 years here.

My present B&W 802D's for dynamics, low down grunt and authority, but too large, too hungry and just too dominating. Don't do quiet very well and need power and control in front of them. They are a lesson in why you don't buy speakers first and believe they will make a huge difference without thinking the bit before.

Near past, a pair of Castle Howard MKII's for imaging and I have yet to meet any speaker which can position instruments with such accuracy and space. Strange box like dimensions and large awkward foot print. One of those 'wish I'd never passed them on' items. The best cheap buy you can find as they don't seem to demand the price they should.

Distant past, IMF ALS30's. Polite, detailed and very fine speakers. Do rock in a......IMF ALS30 kind of way. Lovely stuff.

Hard choice cause I've never paid good money for bad ones in my opinion.

I've said plenty about my current speakers (DCM CX-17, love em) so I wont go further about them. Also had a set of Yamaha bookshelf speakers from the 80s back about six years ago (can't remember the model). They were pretty nice but I ended up selling them cause my Sony reciever died and I didn't have a way to power them.

I think I still have my Klipsch surround sound computer speakers in storage somewhere, they were epic until one of the outputs died. May end up salvaging the drivers out of them one day and DIYing something with them.

But by far the best system I've ever had the pleasure of using is my dad's home theatre system. I can't tell you the model numbers of any of them because I'm not home to look, but Axiom floor standers, center channel, and surround speakers and an SVS bass cylinder (12"). Absolutely not ideal for a turntable, but for anything else, this system blows my mind! It has to be my favorite, it shakes the entire house and still sounds clean while doing it...amazing.
