This is my first post here on vinyl engine. I have gotten some great info here the last month or two. I have been working on a TT project. This was my first rebuild so I have been online a lot, getting all the facts I needed to get through my build. There is a lot at our fingertips here, I really liked that!
A quick rundown of my turntable.
My dad handed down to me an old TT that he purchased back in 1970. He was stationed in Germany on a radar battalion for the U.S. Army. I remember seeing it on a cabinet shelf while I was growing up. So it was really cool to now have it for myself. I knew nothing about it when he first gave it to me. It is a Lenco L75. After a botched repair job by some lunatic that called himself a repair man I decided to tackle the job myself.
I started off just wanting to get the L75 up & running but once I started it snowballed into a full blown project. I wanted the new plinth to have a traditional/60's modern look. I used 8 layers, 6-3/4" birch ply & 2-3/4" MDF, with Ebony wood stain. Chromed cone feet from parts express (3). I am using an Ortofon 2M Red cartidge & Bellari VP-130 tube pre amp.
I have really been enjoying the sound of this table. I have always wanted to get into vinyl & just wish I had done it sooner. Here is a link to my photobucket acct. I hope you guys enjoy the photos!http://photobucket.com/timoteosl75build
