I too have had bad experience with Michael Gammon of Transcriptors Ltd. I tool my Hydraulic reference Turntable to him in Nottingham in January 2011. We agreed work to be done, new parts to fitted and a price.
In April 2011 Mr. Gammon asked me for the £400 we had agreed. Since I bought my original turntable directly from David Gammon who was Michael’s father and I had met Michael, I paid him.
After about 2 months my turntable was returned to me. Most of the work had been carried out but to workmanship was poor. The brass weights had been polished on a buffing wheel and the marks were plain to see (I can publish photos). There was a detached wire on the reed switch that I had to re-solder.
The turntable was not working since Michael did not supply a drive belt even though I had taken two to him. He did not supply any damping fluid or a new dust cover as we had agreed. He did not even return my old dust cover. My turntable was now not working.
I re-sourced the missing parts un the USA and the supplier I found had also heard of Michael Gammon’s business practices.
I decided to send a partial transcript of my discussions with the US dealer to Michael Gammon and below you will find a copy of this.
I have a complete copy of my correspondence with Michael Gammon who finally stopped responding to emails, SMS texts or phone calls.
I researched his company and found the following data.

Company Returns Overdue
Was: NO
Now: Is Overdue
Based on my own experience I do not recommend anyone deal with this company or this person.
Michael,
I still have not heard from you.
I have just ordered a new dust cover for my turntable. Here is a copy of my email and some of the response. You are getting quite a reputation.
Hi, I bought one of these from you as well as some other Transcriptors Hydraulic Reference Turntable gear last year.
I am now looking for a new plastic dust cover for this turntable. I saw you had one on ebay last year. Do you have any more? If so, how can I get one, please.
I have had a Transcriptors turntable since the 1960s. I bought my original (3 weight device) from David Gammon in London.
I sent my current device to his son, Michael for repair. He did a lousy job, took my money and has never delivered the new dust cover we agreed in the price I paid.
I am not at all happy with him but, most of all I want my turntable back up and running again.
Here is part of the reply from an American dealer
Hi,
I keep hearing about Michael Gammon stiffing his customers after taking money for parts and/or service. Frankly I don't understand how he will stay in business with that attitude.
and my reply to him
As to Michael Gammon, I am compiling information on him and will soon start telling my fully documented story on various websites forums. It is such a shame that he does this because he could have a really great business. There are any number of people like me who have had these turntables for many years and who love them I do not like it when people like Gammon steal my money.
I have now sourced all the necessary parts for my turntable and I have had a similar conversation with a number of other people connected with your late Father's excellent design.
We all think that you are being very foolish to say the least.
What you are doing is very petty and you could have made a lot more money by dealing straight with me. I know two other people with Reference turntables but now, I am doing the work you did so badly myself. I am having the weights gold plated as your Dad did and, I am polishing them correctly and not just jamming them on a buffing wheel as you did.
You should be ashamed of yourself desecrating your Father's works of art as you have with such abysmal workmanship and on top of this you compound the error with your pettiness of not completing agreed work.
You will not here directly from me again but rest assured that our correspondence will be published far and wide.
I know that you lost your house and I hope that you soon get put out of business.
Your ex-friend.
