My current Garrard 301 is the best to me. My TD-160 served me well for many years, so I've hung on to it.

The best turntable I've owned is the present one: VPI HW-19 Mk III.
It is a classic-type self contained, 4-spring suspension, with swiveling clear protective top, and easily interchangeable tonearm slab. Once I had three tonearms, but was going crazy with all the permutations and cyclical moods.
Now I just go crazy with the tonearm's interchangeable headshell (Shibata mood tonigh, dear, or conical?).
It does not matter to me that there are better turntables in the market, and even in the VPI lineup. This one is good enough for me in terms of low acoustic feedback, silent operation, rock-steady speed stability, apparent durabiity (no trouble in 12 years), solid feel, attractive piano-black looks, vinyl playback quality, and good handling of mild record warps (due to VPI's peculiar record clamping system).
It is augmented by the optional VPI SDS power supply, which makes it even better and more convenient. Happy camper here, with NO regrets, whatsoever. 8)

My Dual 1219. Just got a Shure M91ED for it, and it sounds awesome! 8) Probably gonna need some lubing on down the road though, which is why I'm keeping the TT it replaced on standby... my Dual 506-1.

Vinyl playback has been lots more fun since the JVC QL Y55F started living on the other side of the phono input RCA jacks...... :) :) :)

Happy spinin'

That is a very good turntable.

My best is also the current, a VPI Aries 3 with JMW9 signature arm. It currently carries a Lyra Delos but I rotate it with a Dynavector Karat 17D3 and (when it comes back from the factory after a ham-fisted mounting attempt) a Koetsu Rosewood Signature. VPIs are great because of the upgrade path - mine will eventually sport the SDS and single-flywheel motor options.

Not far behind (or maybe not even behind) is my Technics SP10 to which I've just given a new lease of life with new Ortofon AS-212S & SPU Royal GM.

VPI 'HRX' with suspension defeated and mounted on a thick slate slab sited on a damped steel rack resting on a massive stone floor. Ive' heard better such as the Continuum range and a Rockport 'Sirius' but even I can't justify that kind of expenditure.

My current VPI 'HRX' run with defeated suspension and Sorbothane under the motor/flywheel. I'm thinking about adding the rim drive but I have some doubts about it's long term lifespan and the question of how you ensure it contacts the platter at consistently the right place.
I can't imagine any of the claimed improvements to speed stability etc as my HRX is just about as good as I thought vinyl would ever get without selling the house. I use a rim clamp when digitising LP's but have to confess I find it makes little difference unless an LP is very thin or warped. Others claim to hear improvements in ambience retrieval and all manner of things which I can't. Maybe the rest of my system isn't transparent enough but I suspect not. Maybe my hearing is finally degrading? Who cares, I'm enjoying vinyl like never before.

May I have the TD125, LousyTourist? It's just sitting on the shelf anyway :D

I've only owned two tables. Currently I'm testing out a brand new Gemini XL-100 that I got at a yard sale for $15. Of course, it doesn't come close to the sound of my AKAI ap-b20...and I've read that it is completely ASS... and slowly figuring that out O_O

My current one:
Dr. Feickert Woodpecker with Feickert 10.5" arm (slightly modified Jelco, really) and Ortofon MC Rondo Bronze (TT came with all these on it already).
Bought it used from a retailer who was selling his demo (manufactured in April 2010).

My current one, a modded TD-125MK2 with the SME III tonearm and the Grado MCZ on it (yes, a Grado... some of you might rememember me as an infamous Grado hater). The main mod is: removing the spring suspension and replacing it with rubber grommets.

I am hoping to better it once i fit one of my Lenco L78s with a different tonearm, probably the Linn Basik Plus with the panasonic Strain Gauge cartridge or maybe a Shure V15-IV or even the Pickering XV15 which isn't bad at all y'know.

Another experiment i'm willing to do is fitting one of the Lencos with a heavy tracking arm and a heavy tracking cartridge, maybe the esoteric Shure M3D.
