First effort: diy MM/MC phono pre w/dc servo

MM/MC preamp, op amp based, two gain stages (current feedback configured for 40db of gain), passive RIAA with Vishay poloypropylene caps, dc servo, no caps in the signal path, ground plane on bottom of pcb, Vishay/Panasonic resistors, Vishay caps, Nichicon KW electrolytics, used with a remote, mosfet based, shunt regulated PSU.

Versatile, compact, quiet, no RF issues(!), measures good, sounds great, still breaking in. PCB from ExpressPCB.

I should edit to add: my first PCB layout effort. I've been building on perf/proto board forever. Finally got off my lazy can and figured out how to use some software. Very worth the effort!

Hi Hags,

Looks good!

I still have not gotten into schematic capture and CAD circuit card layout. It is overdue.

What program did you use? Is it user friendly? Is it affordable by common folks?

Thanks,

Phil

I used the ExpressPCB software from their website. It's freeware and very user friendly.

Hi Hags,

Thanks! That is the one a friend at work put me on to a couple of years ago. I started to learn it with a simple lamp dimmer circuit I was working on, then I got distracted. I will try to discipline myself to spend at least a couple of hours a week with it.
