I have a fantastic Fidelity Research MC 201 for sale.
It has always been in my equipment since new and sparingly played.
No more than 30 hrs of playing.
As such it can be said that it has still to complete the run in period.
The MC 201 is a major improvement over the MC 1 and other FR carts, because it has a new low mass cantilever that is very short (2/3 the mass of other FR carts). As such, it has an higher resonance freq. and improved ability to bring the groove modulation to the motor of the cartridge.
Other impros on the high coercitivity magnet and the developed yoke construction
Coils are free air wounded, so FR defined this cartridge a "True Moving Coil". MC 201 is one of the few that has the right to bear this definition.
This cart plays beautifully and has a medium range second to none, clear and extended highs, powerful but perfectly controlled bass.
Excellent detail and soundstaging.
