P25 wiring not quite right.

Hi guys, until yesterday afternoon i was selling my pristine p25 as i never liked the sound. I purchased it from a Guy in Edinburgh last year as a Birthday treat to myself but immediately dissapointed by its 'tinny' sound. I thought i was just simply a Thorens guy and was keen to purchase a TD320 mk2 on Ebay yesterday as a replacement for the Rega. I had a couple of posts about it in the Autumn that caused a lot of controversy, some of you may remember! LOL.
While listening to it yesterday i could hear that the two channels didnt mix together very well and when you sat in in front of one speaker instead of between the two equally the sound became more meaty, bass guitars sounded like er... bass guitars and not acoustic guitars if you know what i mean.
I had previously checked the headshell cables and the phono's over and over again but everything was what it should be. So as it sounded like 'in phase' i decided to swap the pos and neg speaker cables about on 1 speaker....Wow! The sound blew me away. I recon its got nearly the muscle that my Thorens 125 produces but voices and drums that sounded weak before are so realistic and 'live like' compared to the Thorens and Rega before this.
SO. The Rega is no longer for sale, certainly not for the moment. But i still have the problem of why? what and how? Do any of you guys have possible answers? Maybe some of you have experienced this in the past?

sounds to me your tonearm cable and or wiring is wrong on one channel . out of phase . thin sound = out of phase . you could do a simple swap of the headshell leads as any of the 4 pins to cart can go to any of the pins . start with the rca ends and determine which pin is + AND WHICH IS - . something is backwards . that is providing the rest of your system has no phase issues . should be a simple fix .

Many thanks Vinylips. I got a wiring diagram for rega arms from the net and worked from that. Eventually i had to swap the green wire with the red. It now sounds like it should which is fabulous. Not for sale anymore!

Great news! I remember your earlier post; I think I suggested that there must something wrong as my old P25 was not bass shy or tinny. Glad you found the problem. Welcome to the Rega family.
