Magnavox Automatic 400 Turntable?

Postby ry4wn » 06 Apr 2012 23:04

I have been looking for a nice vintage Magnavox turntable for my entertainment room, I have some concerns however. I cannot locate any documentation about a Magnavox Automatic 400? I found one at a good price but I am concerned about performance, has anyone ever heard or seen this turntable?? The one in reference if it matters is on a site I’ve never heard of before - http://snasy.com/productdetails.php?productid=21

Appears to be a Collaro changer which makes it one of the better models in a portable line. I would think worth owning for an all in one. Not junk. Cleaning, lubrication, idler wheels (can be rebuilt) are the worst service issues. A good changer overall. None of the new nostalgia models as good. So, yes. Worth owning.

Yup, it's a Collaro. Magnavox used them for several years; my grandparents' console had one with a lovely curved arm. It didn't damage any of my records. A fellow named Larry Robinson has a site about record changers, here's his Collaro page: http://midimagic.sgc-hosting.com/collaro.htm

Best,
