My First TT Project...

tales from the tool shed

Is there going to be a lid or dust cover of some kind? I ask because I have terrible trouble with dust; maybe I should stop drilling walls etc. in my living room!
I know they can sound bad, so I had planned to mount a cover on the equipment stand so it didn't touch the deck, but my current suspended deck came with a lid, so I just use it.
What kind of feet will you use, as the deck is not suspended, so I guess that could be crucial? Someone recently asked about vibration from trams and buses in his flat, and I suggested a Seismic Sink type platform, home-made of course; will you need to do anything like that? My shelves are currently sitting on cables stretched from leg to leg on my rack, but my floor is solid, and the speakers are on air mounts, so I don't seem to have a problem.
Looking forward to the next installment.

I've not actually sorted anything in the way of a dust cover yet, though from the dimentions I THINK the one Pro-ject do should cover it. I dont want one attached really, feel it would screw up its looks.
As for vibrations etc, its got Iso Feet with a real bare minimum of contact to the table below. Its also been dampened with cork in various places, like around the motor and where the feel actually meet the TT itself. Seems to do the job so far... (thats the kiss of death)

I just noticed the little red blob on the motor plate. Is that an LED, or a ruby ball for the bearing? Or am I being silly?

I am totally and utterly shattered. Since finishing work at about 11:30 this morning, I've been to the hifi store, picked my amp back up, finished the table, took photos and a vid, edited them and now just put them up. Literally not stopped to eat or drink all day. :boring:

Video to follow in a minute...

I take my hat off to you DR for your fantastic piece of work here. I just hope the person who said 'yeh so you have a block of wood with some holes in it' is looking in to see how far it has progressed since your first scribblings.

Looking wonderful and I am in awe
