light fantastic

For now I'm happy wit my LPT-GTI.

Maybe one day I might upgrade to a higher PT turntable.

Which one is better to go for, the PT1, PT TOO, Or the Export?

By the way. Are PT turntables known to be fast sounding? Because my father noticed this with my LPT-GTI.

Thanks.

Sorry for hi-jacking this one but is LPT related! :)

This is for abril really, as I have one of his old LPT's, which he'd cut -out the Rega hole to take his Mission (Linn fitting) arm.

I've at last got around to "filling it in" and thought I'd share the moment with you guys.

I used Polycell exterior wall filler, (don't laugh) which was built up gradually so it set properly between layers. Light rubbing down (400 grade) before a coat of black spray paint, then a couple of coats of lilac enamel paint which is pretty close! Finished off with a couple of clear lacquer coats to seal it up.

Not perfect but looks much better, and the arm is fitted much more securely. Just had a slight problem with the brush paint and the masking tape, but I couldn't be ar**d to do it all again!

Does this make it a self explanatory turntable :?:

Can't imagine there are huge differences. I would say you should go for the best one that comes along regardless of model.

I would agree with that; I have not noticed huge differences in sound between my PT1, Too and Export GTi... getting a tonearm/cartridge combo is more important than the specifics of the (suspended) PT version

I have had an LPT since 1991. Fitted with Roksan Tabriz and Roksan Corus Black Cartridge - this cmbinatio gives excellent clarity, speed and bass.

guilty  ...i bought that one, it'll be fettled first and i'll be replacing the Rega glass platter/plastic sub-platter with acrylic/metal versions and a new belt then a modified rb250 will be fitted, the whole lot is going to No.2 son as he wants to get into vinyl.

Its not arrived yet but looks remarkably like the LPT less the pink strip that fills the 'gap' so i'm going to use some 3mm red heatshrink to fill said gap...or maybe blue

I remember the split slab being reviewed in the early 90's, but don't recall it being an LPT clone.

Saw this a few weeks back - luckily still in the history: :P

Bit of a one-off if you like that sort of thing. :?:
