Just learned that the P7 is not being sold anymore and has been discontinued. I am a big fan of the P7 and I am intereted to know what the successor will be.

The RP6 is at a significantly lower price point then the P7. I guess the RP6 is more likely the replacement for the P5 which is in the same price range.

A new RP8, then?
..and it's so much better than the P7 that the P9 will be discontinued and replaced by a P10? :)

I agree jorgjean-I have always believed that the P7 was the sweet spot in the Rega line-very curious to see what Rega does here, as the RP6 is clearly not a replacement for the P7. I understand that the replacement for the P9 is at a significantly higher price point, which will make a P7 priced turntable even more competitive.

Be on the lookout for the blowout price coming soon. Now is the time for the owners of lesser tables to forget all the tweaking and get a great table and forget about constant replacing/tweaking.

Where do you have this info from? I don't understand why they would discontinue P7 since the pricegap and quality between they new p6 and p9 is hudge. The P7 goes for around 2600 $ - 1800 euro - 13500 danish kroner and I belive it's a "magic price" for most people who want to make that final hifi upgrade, because you can get really good hi-fi parts at that price and you are able to save up for it on a "middle class salary" like mine (and most people in the western world). Rega would loose a lot of costurmers to Pro-ject, Sota, VPI, Clear Audio etc.

The Analogue Seduction webshop lists the P7 as discontinued. Not an official source, I know, but a large dealer like that probably knows what's going on.

I just took the opportunity to pick a p7 up at a discount. Cherry trim. I am so happy right now. It's absolutely beautiful and the sound blows me away. I was on waiting list for the rp6 but just couldn't wait any longer for an unknown. Really happy with my decision right now.

I'm sure the successor to the p7 will be amazing, but on the flip side, getting a great deal on a p7 instead of waiting for the rp6 was a good call.

Minimal headphone only setup.
REGA p7, Dynavector DV20x2L cart, Jolida JD9 pre, Bottlehead Smack WOT headphone amp.

Despite a lot of contrary info on the forums regarding setup. I did the following.

No spacers.
Jolida loading 47k ohms (not 100 ohs) - saw someone post this, tried it and it sounds a lot better.
Jolida MC-High gain setting (MC-Low is too much gain)
