Your best bet is to go vintage. There are a lot of quite decent older turntables going for cheap, that will beat the pants off all those current low end junk.
Technics, Pioneer, Dual, Harman Kardon, Kenwood, Akai, Taya, and many more made turntables 30 years ago, that were built to last. The Curtis, Crosley, cheap Denon, Ion, etc. you see to-day for up to $200 or more will not last 5 years. For reasonably decent entry-level new ones, look at Rega or Project.

Stick with '60s or '70s, or early '80s. Those from the '50s will most likely be mono, with ceramic cartridges on heavy arms.

Isn't the KT-89 a tuner?

If the speakers pair got a built-in amplifier you just could hookt up the tt to the speakers via line-in. Without amplifier, no chance.

Sorry, you lost me 8-[ If the KT-89 is a tuner then it's a 'source component' and needs to be plugged in to a line level input on your amplifier, unless the speakers have built in amps? I'm not familiar with the KT-89 though so maybe it's not just a tuner, or maybe you are trying to do something else :-k

The KT-89 is a TUNER. A radio source with FM/AM but NO AMPLIFLIER

You need an amplifier to drive speakers OR you need powdered/active speakers which a built in amp.

The turntable needs a PHONO PREAMP - tuners don't have those either.

..so, no, you cannot hook your turntable to a tuner and get sound out of a pair of unpowered speakers.
