Trown away TD 125

Postby robbe_15 » 19 Mar 2012 22:18

Found this TT,was trown away
Even more shocking was the presence of a SME 3012 with a shure V15vx cartridge.
(picture shows non original headshell for testing purpose.
A new transfo and capacitors and ..it works !only smoe scratches at the base.

Now starts the restauration projesct. I never had seem such a plint with a non rectangular cut out for the tone arm.The woodden base has also springs (with a knob (see left upper corner).

Sound is OK, tested with a simple Audio Technica cartridge.
Now I'm planning a Jico SAS stylus for the Shure V15Vx cartridge. Has a very good reputation. Someone has experience with this cartridge-stylus ?
In the mean time the botom of the plint, manufactured by SME especially for the SME 3012 (info found here) is changed in a MDF base of 18mm.

Especially when I bought it, however, a fine arm, suits me, pleased you re-cycled it and at a fair price.

Probably been there no more than a couple of hours, right on top on an unknown (kit?) turntable.
Was thoroughly checked out (promise),barely needed cleaning :)

Well missing a bias weight but with factory phono connections glad you thought it was fair.
I trust it is working well.

PS Alan
Welcome to the Adcom if you still want it (cantilever has been carefully straightened (no crease visible) and seems to be working OK)
