Not only did I love this album from the time I first bought it (I was 14 at the time!) but they were also the first band I ever saw live. Just because of that I will also have a soft spot for their music and this album. Plus I'm still 14 years old in the head.

I love that you have the "Romantic Warrior" one. I bought that album for no other reason than I loved that picture. I didn't care much for the music, but I loved that image.

I wasn't sure I liked it at first but after repeated listens I think I "get it" now. It's 1976 if anything ever was, that's for sure. Good if you're getting in to fusion. My drummer buddy loves it.

Return to Forever has an album called Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy which is quite a bit like the Mahavishnu Orchestra. I have that and Light as a Feather, which are both a bit more focused and may be more familiar to your ear than Romantic Warrior was.

Yeah those are both sweet. I think the Rhino reissue comes with the Roger Dean cover, whereas the 90's cds had the Charles White version. I've seen only the Charles White cover LP's

However, I think both the song London Calling and the cover are OVERRATED (waits for flames to erupt).

Hmmm, well, it's the story behind that album cover which makes it memorable and truly fascinating (to me, at least)--> not sure if you're aware, but it's an actual photo of when Paul Simonon smashed his bass guitar (which is now on display at the Cleveland Rock & Roll Hall of Fame) against the stage during the band's US tour in 1979. It's also a homage to the design of Elvis Presley's debut album.
