Marantz 6300TT and Ortofon red 2m

Hi all, came across a slightly used Ortofon red 2m that I want to install on a Marantz 6300 TT that currently has a NOS ma 282-e cartridge I found while cleaning my parents garage. The current configuration has great precise sound... But I want to tinker and install the 2m, problem being it is too tall to install without raising the tone arm...

My question is how does one set the parallel alignment of the tone arm to use the 2m once it's installed?

The current tone arm setting is the lowest possible so getting it back to play with the ma cartridge should be straight forward...

The 6300 arm is height-adjustable. Use an Allen wrench to loosen the set screw at the arm base to raise or lower it. All this is explained in the owners' manual. Have you read it yet?

Yes, thanks for the reply, I have the manual avail from the site and am aware of the three set screws to allow vertical adjustment. my question is more how is the parallel level aligned, is there a tool commonly used other than a ruler and a carpenters level? Or would eye balling it to parallel to the plinth, platter, LP be enough?

I just eyeball so that the cart top is level to your platter.This is a good starting point,I also use a deck of cards under tone arm lifter ,ad or subtract to fine tune as necessary.
