Fisher 220T bass & treble response

Postby Bran Kulez » 14 Mar 2012 03:27

I just picked up a Fisher 220T solid state receiver. One channel was out so I took it into my local repair shop and he replaced a capacitor and a transistor. It works fine except the bass is extremely pronounced. I have to turn the bass all the way down to get it to sound normal. The treble is also somewhat pronounced but it sounds fine at the 9:00 position. Is this normal for this receiver or is it in need of an overhaul?20907

Does it have a Loudness botton? If so, turn it off.
Also, check that the bass and treble control knobs are on properly. The pointer line should go to both extremes. If not, pull the knobs off, and reposition them.

Cheers,
Alec
Keep them spinning.

No loudness button and yes, the knobs are positioned properly.

Hi,
It doesn't sound normal for any amp? In a component that old it could be faulty switches, flaky old capacitors, poor repair work etc.

Regards,
