Thorens TD 145 refurb

Postby goofytwoshoes » 10 Mar 2012 13:58

A recent garage sale find is a TD 145 and Stanton 681EEE that looks near-mint ($20). I'm refurbing it for my son and daughter-in-law. With a 3-year-old in the house, the stock "bouncy" spring setup will not work, so I plan to replace the springs with heater hose or similar. I will order Joel's kit to clean/relube, with new belt. Masonite bottom cover will be replaced with 1/2" baltic birch ply. TT will sit on Target stand with spiked top shelf. One of the rubber feet is gone, and I can't decide if I should install adjustable cones, or Bright Star Isonodes. Comments from anyone that has been through this would be much appreciated.

Might I suggest a wall-mount?

Cheers,
