SME V lift arm just won't

Postby Typecaster » 22 Feb 2012 21:58

My new-to-me SME V arm moves freely but the arm lift lever doesn't lift the arm. It rotates as it should but the ram doesn't move.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Richard

sounds like the piston inside the lifter has its lower leg broken...can be tricky to get the unit open without removing the arm wand...but a good look is needed

ideally u may have to contact sme and ask about a spares pack once u find out what part is broken

Perhaps the ram is stuck in the UP position? This has happened to me. Try gently pushing it down, with finger, with lifting lever at lowered position. If ram does move down, move lifting lever to raised position to check that ram lifts/moves upwards? If so, just lubricate ram with light machine oil and work unit a couple of times.
