function buttons go snap/crack

Postby strivitz » 25 Jan 2012 02:15

This is my first visit and post. I have a Clairtone T10 amplifier and a Garrard Lab 80 turntable that we purchased in 1967. It sat idle for many years and is in need of a major clean. My big question is, can anything be done to clean the funtion swithes? The unit is a Contessa model no. 645.

The best thing to do is to get some Caig deoxit and Faderlube. Available at Guitar world or mail order from Parts Express. Take the unit apart until you can access the back of the switches. The cans come with a long thin tube. Spray deoxit into the switch through any hole you find and then turn or push it about fifty times. Let it sit for a while. Then spray faderlube into it the same way and actuate it again a few times. This will replace the lubricant that deoxit takes out. Let it sit for a while and then try it. Repeat as necessary. You can google parts express for their web site.

Ron.

Thx for making what appeared to be an impossible thing to do sound simple enough. I'm part way through repairing the tone arm and will tackle the switches in a week or two. I am happy to get your reply. Thanks so much.
