After driving through a winter storm and poorly plowed highways to a Praxis II test 90 miles away and then driving home 3 hours later I stopped at the local used game/CD store that has a small selection of records for a present to self. Picked up Sadeo Watanabe's Fall Blow with all star cast and it was a quirky song line up, but a good live performance. The used record was so noisy. It actually had a tape like hiss. No bother, it was cheap and the music was fun.
Picked up Jimi Hendrix's "Are You Experienced" on 180gram vinyl. It's washed and ready to go, but haven't spun it up yet. I got all like "Don't just listen to it because it is new and 180gram, listen to it when you want to" and for some reason I am listening to my subconscious.
And finally I picked up a used "Best of Wayne Shorter" on Blue Note. I've heard all the songs on various CD's I own and I have to say once again that my new Ortofon OM2 red sounds better than all my CD's, even through my DAC.
It took my whole CD life (I am 46 years old) to finally say that records sound better than CD's.
