Our local jazz station has an on-line feed of ... 48 kbps. Not impressive!
I do like listening to broadcasts from other parts of the world. And I don't need a great long antenna.

This is what ABC (Australia Broadcasting Commission) has to offer. Can get up to 128kbps.....what ever that means.

This one plays 80's new wave, post-punk, c86/indie and some hardcore punk (sometimes). Mostly obscure/rare stuff from the US & UK and other countries- which you might never hear anywhere else

Oh man, got on this site at work, and the religious guy next to me didn't really like the home page.....!
hahah it was a funny situation though Anyways, I'll check this out when I get home. I'm not a big fan of the 80's, but was really into the goth/post-punk scene at one point.

Hahahah! You're probably talking about Roxy Music's "Country Life" album cover ... but no worries, it changes each time you reopen the site.

I'm not a big fan of the 80's, but was really into the goth/post-punk scene at one point.

Yeah, there's enough goth & post-punk stuff on Andy's library, so you can easily request them... and if there's any song/album you'd want to see added, just request for it on the shoutbox and he will add it.

And 80's arcade games can't be beat!

i used to run / host an internet radio station 128kbps is near as damn it CD quality, and if you are encoding to aac, its better than cd quality. Our station used a twin technics set up though a pioneer DJM 800 in to a broadcast compressor and in to a mac with an m-audio 24/96. sound quality was great. website ran with an embeded flash player, or links to play using a play or your choice. Not expensive to set up, and to be honest doesnt take a lot of technical skill either. there are plenty of sites gving information. the only thing that gets in the way is PRS licencing. sill rules around how many tracks fro the same album you can play in a set amount of time etc etc. and having to keep a complete log of every track you play. kinda cuts amatuers out of the market a bit.

I was actually wondering how online radio admins are addressing the copyright/royalty issues for the songs they play. Isn't it illegal to play any song in public without the authorization of the artist/copyright owner or something?- and is there some sort of payment due to them? I'm totally clueless on how the whole thing works

For me, Internet Radio is something I can put on and not necessarily "listen" to, but something that keeps me company. If it's been a long day and I want to crash in the recliner, not thinking about anything,
then I turn to

It seems like there are a million country bands in Texas you've never heard of , (and probably won't either, in the future)
