Any one know about Technics US master turntable

Postby kontrabass888 » 01 Jan 2012 23:34

Happy new year,
I am considering to experience a quartz direct drive turntable. I passed a local hifi shop there are only two TT for sell: a Project debut III and a technics turntable which is called "US master" cost 250EUR. it looks very similar as SL-1210 but full automatic and much lighter. I can't find any information about this model on internet.

Why this model's name are not in the same line as other technics(SL-XXX)?
Is this model worth 250 EUR?

I'm not sure what model that could be? It should have an SL model number somewhere, possibly on the box or the serial number plate?

There is no sl number, it has only a technics brand and by the right side on the plinth where usually written the serie number, is written "US master".
I asked the shop what serie is this TT, but they don't know(or didn't want to tell me the truth?)

I wouldn't bother returning to the shop with the Project or the Technics Master turntable. The Project is a poor performing belt drive and the Technics "master" turntable is what is commonly known in the US as a white van turntable, a cheap knock off a Technics SL-1200Mk2 that is next to worthless.

Thanks for reply, does this "master" share the same arm and motor with SL-1200MKII?

Only Technics parts are used on Technics turntables, my guess is the Master is a cheap knockoff made in China of inferior parts/materials/design that you will regret purchasing.

Is "Technics" spelled correctly on that table?
