Marantz 6200 Turntable

Postby cheptrum » 05 Jan 2012 19:51

Hi All, I purchased this Marantz 6200 turntable on Ebay, a while ago and now have discovered that I can't get the platter to start spinning. I'd like to open up the bottom but not sure about the proper method to prevent any damage and also not sure what to look for in order to fix the problem. If anyone has the knowledge to help me out I would very much appreciate it very much. If it's an easy fix I'd rather do it myself. If not then I will take it in for repair. Thanks in advance!

I believe the 6200 is a belt drive. The belt has to be on, and it should be good. Lift off the platter to access. Make sure the motor works, and the main bearing is clean and freshly oiled.
Service manual is here: http://www.vinylengine.com/library/marantz/6200.shtml

Cheers,
Alec
