I pay a premium for the raw material because I use oversize blanks . No-one else does this so I feel it is very important to mention.
I am also asked on occasion by potential customers how it compares to the weight of the glass platter.

I fully understand, and I believe that it's a good thing giving information to the customers. I also understand that some of the aftermarket platters are lighter than the original and that it may not be a good idea.
I was just wondering if it's a point in having the acryl or delrin platter exactly the same weight as the original or if heavier is better.

Looks really nice on your P5!!
Not sure if I like the looks of the frostet acryl better.
Then again, looks ain't all, the sound is the primary goal 8)

Both look very nice! I guess making a yin-yang design is out of the question? ;-)

She sings and with a lot of soul. Thanks Wilson!

I am confident in what I'm hearing and I'm surprised it is a little more than subtle changes going from the acrylic platter to the Delrin platter. I was not expecting that much change. The disclaimer:
All this is in context of my equipment and I'm biased toward the the Jasmine LP2.0 and the SAE 1000lt sound, just to keep that in mind. This arousing sound is worth 3X than what the expenditure cost me. Sometimes ya get lucky. Lots of synergy going on with this platter and these 2.

The Delrin Platter is good, real good and more to my liking. It seems less aggressive but damn dynamic too.
Oh, no clamping on this platter. I didn't like the clamp on the acrylic either. The Delrin also does not seem to sap the life from the vinyl.

The SAE 1000LT has excellent balance front to back , right to left, inner detail, even more natural with this platter.
Some subtle changes to bass but seems like more there. For the most part I find Vinyl lacking in bass (not always) compared to CD. Is it the density and the extra weight of the Delrin? Don’t know? You would think half of this stuff wouldn’t make that much difference. The materials are similar. It does make a difference and you can hear it.

When you get to this point of quality I’m after emotional changes that can bring tears to your eyes and a can’t sit still mood that Rega provides. It is not lost in these changes.
It’s that sense of “real” and what the musicians and singers are trying to convey. Crescendo’s, stops, and fading out ends of notes to unwavering blackness in passages that bring this out.
The acrylic platter has some of this too but there was an aggressiveness a glare, something that was annoying me. This was changed going back to the stock glass/felt combination. But that combination compared to the Delrin is a larger jump backwards now. I have gone back twice to compare since the Delrin arrived with the new platter winning out.
Music now just flows better from the black platter. You seem to be more aware of what is going on in the background by having that separation with more detail coming out it gets very involving indeed.

So the bottom line is you have to decide if you want to take your P5 down the path further. It's not cheap but not nearly as expensive as some other upgrades. You have to decide if you really like your P5. I would put my table up against a RP6 anytime. Maybe I will get to hear one.

Albums used: Sade, Diamond Life, Herb Alpert, Fandango, lots of Earl Klugh. There are a lot of things going on in these selections that really tell what I have described above. I just enjoyed the hell out of all of it.

Let me add that I would only use either of the GT platters only with the GT sub-platters. I would definitely not use it with the stock phenolic sub-platters. But I don't think anyone would do that anyway.
