Thanks, Fred. No, I'm not the good doctor, but it was my physician who first gave me a listen to a pair of those speakers. I was blown away by the sound, but the price was beyond my means. When I saw that pair on AudiogoN for a tad less than half price, I grabbed the opportunity. No regrets. :D

My newly acquired M91ED looks as though it is staying put for a long time for every day listening. I'm enjoying it so much that I thought I would buy a spare stylus or 2.

I looked about and for the money I think the EV PM3136DE is going to be the best performing of the low cost range as I reckon it was manufactured by Jico. The current tip is a Pfanstiehl so likely Swiss origin. I know an SAS tip is available for the M91 but I'd sooner put that sort of money towards a Paratrace retip and ruby cantilever for my Garrott P66.

And what a fantastic choice. Certainly my favourite at the price and one awesome performer.

New purchase?

An Angle Audio phono-stage. Virtual battery, MC/MM, variable loading and just can't wait to get home.

It's outstanding. I only fear that the arm (a bone stock RB300), or more specifically the arm wires, are now the bottleneck. Although the RB300 is a fine performer for it's price and age I'm pretty sure that this cartridge will benefit from a higher quality arm.

Please excuse my ignorance, but is a virtual battery a battery that suppies current from cyberspace?...

Purchased an "Existential Transducer".
Transports me to Audiophile Heaven.
Consists of one 180 gram LP of Rachmaninoff Piano Conceto #3 played by Byron Janis, in a reissue of a Mercury original.

Does not fail. Transponds me to another state every time it is played. 8)

Oh, yes, it is the excuse to give a workout to the new Denon DL-103R cartridge.

It deserves the best you can get. I use mine on a Mission 774 and I still think more is to be extracted from it.

Virtual battery? Perhaps it doesn't exist and they use the description to sell when it's not actually there. Lost in the net somewhere.

hi,
On Sunday, picked up a very nice 1970's (I think 1972) Leak 3200 Receiver for the front room. It is in immaculate condition fully serviced . The power amp and preamp/Tuner is bridged on the back by phono plugs. Sounds absolutely lovely .It has MM phono as standard with FM/MW/LW Tuner.Tagged my Thorens TD150 on the back of it .

If anyone has a manual or specification sheet or know where I could obtain one, please let me know.

Regards,
JohnG.

On Thursday last week I bought a (new) Technics SL-1200MkII that will replace my Rega P9 (old vers.). It will be delivered sometimes between Jan 24th and Feb 10th. The P9 is perfectly OK but I wanted a more rugged and more professional TT that I can use also in my small home studio.

Received an AT-F5 OCC that I won in an on-line auction but it's got to go back as it only has output from one channel :(

But it wasn't delivered between Jan 24th and Feb 10th. It wasn't delivered at all. DHL lost it somewhere en route
After lot of e-mailing between the supplier firm and myself they decided to send me another one. And it arrived day before yesterday, Thursday on the 23th of February. So, when normally a shipment from Germany takes about six days, sometimes even less, now it was first after six weeks after I got what I had ordered (and paid).

I promised to return the first unlucky shipment if it ever appears.

Now the brand new - well it was made in Feb 2010 - waits for first listening tests, after I have acquired a cart for it, of course.
