Ok, my Ortofon Super OM 10 just arrived and I had a couple of questions:

Question 1) Should I be using the spacers? For now I'm not as it seems like the spacers make the cartridge way too low...

which leads me to my next question:

Even without the spacers and a relatively low counterweight (their website recommends 1.5g) the needle seems to catch the record every so often before I am lowering the arm. How do I adjust this issue? For now I just have the counterweight set super low at 1g and it just *barely* misses the record with the arm raised (which is making me think maybe it's too heavy still with the arm lowered?!).

Is there a way to raise the overall suspension of the arm or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help!

Did you rebalance the arm with the dial to 0, before you dialed in the VTF?
BTW, what arm is on it? If a Rega, you probably need spacers. If a Jelco or other, you can probably raise the arm at the base.

Cheers,
Alec

What kind of arm is it? It sounds like you need to raise it but how you do that depends on the arm.
Do you have a picture of the arm we can look at then we can advise how to raise it?

It's the arm that says "Systemdek" on the top... I know this TT came with several arms but I think only one like that.

here's a couple of pics (not mine, but like this):

Look for a hole, perhaps 2, in the back of the bottom disk, with a small set-screw (Allen key) in the bottom of it.

Thanks sir, worked like a charm.

I did at first not realize loosening it a little caused the whole thing to drop (I just heard the sound, didn't see what happened) and thought I loosened the wrong screw and did quite a bit of damage ;) Took a bit of pushing and pulling on things to realize the whole unit slides up and down once that screw is loose haha.

Anyway, I think I've officially worked out ever kink that previously existed with this TT and am enjoying it more than ever. Excellent purchase... patting myself on the back.

Sorry for jumping in late here ... I may have misunderstood the issue but it seems like you were describing a tonearm lift/cueing height issue, not a VTA issue. If it was just stylus clearance, adjusting the cueing height would be the most likely solution. I dont know the arm so maybe the cueing platform isnt adjustable. Adjusting VTA would obviously solve the problem but not just the problem alone. Adjusting cueing height solves the clearance problem without changing anything else. Again, sorry if I missed something or misunderstood and just disregard if thats the case. Or disregard anyway :P
