Thanks folks. I have so little 45rpm content that isn't much of an issue for me (might upgrade the PSU later on...).

I was more concerned about the pulley, which early in this thread is described as being needing to be 'shaved' in some TT's. But sounds good to me!

Hi Etnier,

The stainless steel dual pulley is of the same height as the plastic pulley of planar 3. So it should fit. If you do wish to play 45 lps' occasionally, the stainless steel standard pulley (33.3/45rpm) could be your choice.

I don't know if I have missed something here ... but why would you want to fit a Dual Pulley on the OL motor?
The design of my OL motor/pulley allows 2 white belts to be fitted to it - 1 @ the top of the taper & 1 @ the bottom!
Mine works brilliantly:-)

I'm currently using the original round section belt at the top of the OL pulley
like you are, but I'm worried that it could slip down. The Double Pulley Assembly
would prevent that, I reckon.

OL speed drift issues continue, mind you....

I have had 2 white belts fitted for around 12 months now without mishap.
OL speed drift issue? could it be that your original belt is causing the problem ie. insufficient tension/motor alignment? Try 2 white belts - you know it makes sense I have not had any speed drift issues with the OL although I did put my Rega sub platter in my lathe & just cleaned up the edge to be sure it was concentric!

Lucky you. I've had nothing but bother with the OL motor kit. Firstly,
I found it impossible to get the motor to run slowly enough with the
supplied power supply (9V), so I bought one of those switchable ones and
currently have it running on 4.5 V. I also had to chip away at the veneer on
my Planar 3 to place the motor back far enough to get enough tension in the belt.
This *seemed* to sort a lot of the issues out but recently it's been drifting
again seemingly without logic.

To be honest, if I had a few hundred quid to spare I'd be sorely tempted to go
for the Rega 24V motor and the TT PSU.


Yes, I think the flat section belt is done and I like the idea of two round
section belts. I'm going to try it with stock black belts first before considering
the white ones.

James, which model did you go for? I bought the Advanced upgrade with the DC100 motor & it has been brilliant:-) No speed issues at all!!! If the unit is fairly new I would contact OL & see what they say. They are very good if you feel you have an issue. Just a thought ... you are not feeding the power from a 'cleaned up' source are you? - they do state quite clearly in the paperwork that their Regulator box must be plugged direct into the mains wall socket!

Hi brassnwood.

I believe I have the DC100 motor version. However, I've had this problem for years now,
before the DC100 motor version even existed. I was an (unsatisfied) Origin Live customer
way before then...

But, please dont tell me to contact Origin Live and make an issue of it. I've tried that
one and was told the problems are (somehow) of my own making - i.e. "your room must
be too hot/cold...." (I live in Glasgow. In Scotland, folks. You cant really get more temperate
than that....)


Also as I've said, I could not get the OL motor to run **slow** enough with the supplied
9V power supply and had to buy my own switchable version and run it at a lower voltage.

I consider the OL DC Motor Kit a colossal waste of my money and, in my experience, I'd steer
Rega Planar owners away from it, should they ask my opinion.

I think what brassnwood is asking is whether you are plugging the PS into a power conditioner or regenerator, rather than directly into a wall.
