"Back in the DHSS" - cracking album and "Everyone's Doing the Len Ganley Stance" a corker...

Don't forget China Crisis too... They were OK

Picked up some Joe Jackson LPs used, including Night and Day along with EP of Can't get what you want and Cha Cha Loco. These LPs sound very good to me....

Excellent choice. Include 'I'm the man' and 'Jumpin Jive' in to the Jackson numbers. Not sure when 'Jumpin' was released though. My wife loves 'Night and day'. Still doing the rounds today I am told.

Joe Jackson that is, not my wife.

" Vatican Broadside" , now there's a classic . I loved it when Peel used to play it . Sorry , going off topic as it is not from the 80s .

Oh Boy! Stan Ridgway is one of my favorite 80s artists. Yes I've got a lot of his solo work on vinyl:
Calling Out To Carol 7" PS
Camouflage 12"
The Big Heat LP
and all the Wall of Voodoo albums...stunning material!

Gotta throw my 2c (2p) in here.

Pixies (Surfer Rosa & Doolittle...influenced a whole new genre of rock. Indie bliss. Waaay ahead of their time. Thankfully they're back together again.)
Joe Jackson (Night and Day just stands alone as near perfect recording & pressing IMHO)
Dire Straits (Private Investigations still knocks my socks off)
Pat Metheny (First Circle is just too cool)
Just about any Windham Hills album (for incredible dynamics, listen to the soundtrack of Country, side B, track 4, The Auction)

All stellar, especially on vinyl. Excellent products of the 80's.

Just picked up a lovely VG+ Genesis Invisible Touch.. Whilst I dislike the effects on the vocals its a beautiful sounding album with an incredible (albeit rather electronic) soundstage.. Its also sounds like silk compared to the CD which had the ability to remove all traces of earwax with its treble..

Yup....everytime I play it, which is a lot, I comment to myself how sonically wonderful it is.

I have a lot of favourite albums from the '80s but some that pop immediately into my head as sounding really good are:
Marillion - Misplaced Childhood (James H - good call also on Script...)
Level 42 - World Machine
Kate Bush - The Dreaming & The Hounds of Love
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Sade - Diamond Life
Paul Simon - Graceland
