I'm still feeling like a dog with two tails at the moment just looking at the thing sitting there but with the stand-in Denon DL103 in place it's nothing special, you can hear subtle improvements but I'm quite sure there is a massive amount of improvement to come. I will report back when the Black is Back!

STILL WAITING! 20th June I sent it off, these people need to employ some more bodies!

Next week! They promised! 8)

Still waiting, they're keeping sharp objects away from me at the moment.........

It arrived yesterday =D> ....and I'm sending it back tomorrow
It just won't track properly and when it does play the sound is hard and uninvolving which is the complete opposite of it's original sound. I must have tried every conceivable alignment set up but still it would audibly mis-track. I've got a horrible feeling it could turn into an un-winnable situation where they say I must have damaged it when fitting, (which I didn't of course, if I had I would simply have paid them to do it again), and me saying it must have been done wrong. Anyway must give them the benefit of the doubt at the moment and the chance to make it good. :(

Cheers mate, I do hope so, it would be horrible if it all gets nasty but it has to be right.

That's disappointing Zebbo  although i've heard others say the same after getting back their re-built cartridge, maybe you should let it run for a while before returning it?

I did think about doing that but we're not talking about a little tiz here and there, it really breaks up on the peaks, enough to damage my records I would think. Now I know the test tracks on set up discs are OTT but every cartridge I've had would easily track the first two bands and most would make a stab at the torture track but the Koetsu wouldn't even track the first without some noise and as for the torture track, it just skated over it.

No, I don't have access to any gear for that. I did think about sending it up to Johnnie at Audio Origami as he will inspect and provide digital pics for just a few quid but that would have delayed things even more. I've already sent it back so will find out next week what they have to say. One thing I would say, however, is that the original diamond was absolutely minuscule, barely visible but the replacement looked much bigger and easily visible.

ImageNot very recent I know but I got my PTA in 1995 after falling for its clean and refreshingly open sound. Early experiences with an Ekos proved underwhelming but more recently marrying this turntable to a Hadcock 228 tonearm have proved more rewarding. After 16 years my battery powered Anni is nicely run in and sounds better than ever.
