The ones on Ebay seem to be played to death and I can understand why...classic indeed.

I recenlty obtained a NM 1st Jap pressing of Moving pictures from a Japanese seller on Fleabay. Killer sound, dead quiet vinyl. I happily paid $80.00 USD.

I have found that the Japanese pressings almost always exceed American pressing quality by quite a fair margin. I have found some great Japanses sellers on Ebay with lots of great NM stuff. The Moving Pictures LP I ordered from Tokyo on a Friday night was in my hands by the follwing Tuesday.

My Holy grail would be a sealed or NM copy of Pink Floyd DSOTM solid Blue triangle, first UK press.

My local shop had DSOTM first press seled ..£500...not worth that IMO.

Good to know they are still out there SS. 500 GBP is too spendy for me.

How do the 1st UK pressings (Solid Blue Triangle) sound compared to the other great copies like MFSL and Japanese first pressings ? Any descernible sound quality differences ?

Might be a daft question but are original UK copies sealed, very few UK albums of that age would have been sealed when new, if any.

Right now for me, it would either be Pink Floyd's Pulse, or an original copy of Coheed and Cambria's The Second Stage Turbine Blade.

Haven't had much money lately to pursue these at all.

Mine would have to be "Stratergy" by Level 42 but i beleive there were only a handful of copies around. The record collector guide says £400!

Interesting price. Think I have this album as was quite a Level 42 fan for some time, if only for the exceptional bass playing of Mark King. I will have to check out when I get home. Will not be for sale though.

I have a new 'must find', 'Hooray for Boobies' by the 'Bloodhound Gang'. I know it exists, just can't find a copy anywhere.

Yes that is a very hard to come by LP. Released on the Elite lable as a promo only if my memory serves me right. I sure most of the tracks appeared on the Early Tapes release on Level Records. I have the Elite Records copy of Love Meeting Love in my collection which is quite collectible.

King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
Jeff Wayne - War of the Worlds
Alan Parsons Project - Turn of a Friendly Card
Pink Floyd - Meddle
Pink Floyd - Animals (strike that-looked in my collection...have it!)
Pink Floyd - Pulse
Anything by "It's a Beautiful Day"

I've finally been able to hunt and bag King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Alan Parsons, and Meddle since writing this little list. The desire for more vinyl is an ever-growing and insatiable monster, is it not? As far as "Holy Grail" albums, I personally have none.

A bit non-specific this, and I must be honest & say I've not really researched it, but I'd love to own some (or even just one) of the original Sun 45s from the 50s.
In particular of course the bigger name artists like Elvis or Johnny Cash.
I have no idea how rare they are or what the prices would be like, as I said I've never done any research, but it's my idea of vinyl-collecting p**n :)

Porcupine Tree - Deadwing. $300 is the LOWEST price I have ever seen for it since the limited run was sold out.
