cooksferry,

Just read your post and see you owned a Perspective. Interested to hear how the RPM10 compares? Did you stick with the original arm on the Perspective and what cartridge did you run?

Apologies for hi-jacking the thread a little...
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair (Douglas Adams).

Mine was an early version with the alloy arm which I stuck with. From memory I mainly used a Goldring 1042 but may just have snuck my current Dynavector DV20XL on towards the end.
I had no real issues with the sound reproduction qualities of the Perspective but it was a pain to keep dust free and looking good and I couldn't stop fiddling with the suspension and driving myself round in circles.
The RPM10 is basicly set and forget. More weight and body to the sound maybe but its hard to remember now and the rest of the chain(amps, cables etc) have changed in that time as well. One of the big advantages IMO having a non suspended TT is that I can use a fairly heavy outter TT ring to flatten out warped records as so many of the current issues appear to be. Not so easy with a suspended deck.

The Perspective was a beautiful looking TT though and with a good cartridge and phono stage makes a very satisfying midfi setup.

Vinyl and Tube Dude wrote:Thanks I will return later with update info when I get one. But I have to save up for a while. I should have enough for it summer 2011. I think I'll go for the MMF 7,1. I'm looking for a permanent replacement for my Debut. Later I could buy an extra motor and belt and save it. Then, hopefully, I can have a good TT for many years... and it looks nice too

Nope. I came to the conclusion that my Debut III is rather good for the money so if I'm to upgrade, I don't just want to have something better. I want something way better. I'm thinking Linn P12 Thorens TD 350 VIP Classic 1 or something like that. So I'll keep saving some more cash. And while I'm at it, I will be needing better speakers too otherweise the TT upgrade wouldn't give full value. I been talking to someone who know one who have a pair of Snell speakers he's thinking of selling. I gave my number out and then we see.

Well I can assure you the 7.1 is way better than the debut III....and with the right gear will sound as good as the Linn P 12... With the right cart the 7.1 sounds really really good. IF you have good gear thats on the same level as the 7.1 and a good cart, you got a nice table. For most people upgrading is done in increments unless you got lots of cash on hand.

I am certain that MMF 7.1 is a fine table and I'm still very fond of Pro-ject arms. And I know what your'e talking about with good gear. It have to match. No point in buying a high end table if the amp or speakers isn't able to reproduce to high quality from the TT. But that's just the point for me. I have heard my amp and pre-amp on a pair of Audio Note AN-E/D a tube phone stage and Thorens TD 350 with a Mørch tonearm. So I know what my amp can do. It's really good, and I want that too. And since my Klipsch and Debut / phono amp is okay for know. I'll wait untill I have the cash for the heavy gear

Right now, Ive got decent gear....two tables...mmf-2.1 and 7.1, the 7.1 while the 2.1 is good, its really out class by the 7.1. I've got Rotel RB1080 power amp and RC1090 preamp. X-Ray CDP. Its really nice stuff with the Rotel gear being some of the best Rotel has made. I just got the 7.1, Next it's the preamp I will be switching out, then maybe upgrade the interconnects and speaker cable. I love the sound of Canton speakers so I will be moving up the chain in Canton speakers last. Might take me a year to do all that, but hey...its moving in the right direction. You should look hard for deals that can be had now on the gear you want. What happen to all the pictures of you gear you had? You had nice stuff. Didnt you have Musical Fidelity XRAYv8 DAC? IF so how did you like it?

Yes I do have a Musical Fidelity XRAYv8 DAC and I love it and keeping it. I just deleted my pictures because we moved and Iwanted to update them..it's 6 month ago  Better pull myself together a upload some new photos.
And let me say about my thoughts on upgrade. I don't know what I want right now other than I want some speakers and a TT that makes me so happey that I dont want more new HIFI stuff before something is worn out. And I want enough cash so I have a wide choise. Who knows, I may buy a MMF 7.1 after all or a Linn P 12 because I love the sound of Pro-ject arms or something completly differnt.

I don't think they make that DAC anymore. It dont have optical input (not that i need them) But I'm keeping it as long as it works, it sounds really good.

I just uploaded new pictures. Same Hi-Fi, new home. Need a better audio furniture solution to hide all the cabels. I get around to it some day..or my better half makes me get around to it, if I wait too long :)

I was just kidding about the DAC....unless you want to send it to the states so I can listen to it and give a good review of it...Thanks for the pictures...I love eye candy. I have a new mmf-7.1 but I want to get a new cart for it...thinking about the 2Mblack....I may take the 2M Red off my 2.1 until I get the black....I let you know what I think of the pictures after I take a look....thanks

It would be some review since it runs on 230 volts over here :D I heard 2M blue in a shop and that was rather good sounding, so I guess 2 M Black woulden't be a bad choise.

Thanks!
The reason you never heard of Audio Classic is because it's a small danish firm. One man and a few helpers. He makes really good equipment in SE and push pull amps and RIAA. His prices are reasonable because he sells them himself and he offers good service too. Some people pays for custom build amps too, but I'm quite happy with the "stock" amps, although I had a tapeloop added so I can use my headphone amp with both DAC and CD player. The site is only in danish, but here's a link anyway. If you press on no. 2 and no. 3 on the left "For-forstærkere" (pre amps) Forstærkere (amps), you can at least see photos of the amps if you wish.
